How to install custom ROM Hybrom on WT19i

Disclaimer: The procedure as given here may damage your handset if you do not follow the steps properly. We would appreciate that you should take this up only if you have technical knowledge and you know at least what you are doing. Kindly add Hybrom to WT19i at your own risk. We are not responsible for any damage caused to your device.
The first and the foremost thing you are required to do is, download HYBROMAN V15 fOR WT19i.  You can download it here : HYBROMAN V15 (WT19i)
it is important to note that you must unlock the bootloader of your WT19i officially before you take up any of the procedures given below. Along with this you need to install ClockworkMod recovery and custom kernel.
You can unlock the bootloader officially through the above link and here is how you can install ClockworkMod recovery for WT19i.

Install ClockworkMod recovery for WT19i

  1. Download ClockworkMod from here: Download CWM
  2. Install ADB drivers in not already installed. Download ADB drivers
  3. Run install-cmw2.cmd (Do not run install-cmw1.cmd)
  4. Enable USB Debugging on device. (Settings->Application->Development->check USB debugging)
  5. Connect the phone to PC with the USB cable.
  6. Now just follow the instructions on the screen.

Moving on to installation of custom Rom on WT19i

  1. Copy the zip file which we downloaded initially to the SD card.
  2. Now reboot the phone into ClockworkMod.
  3. After that make a full data wipe-factory reset
  4. Also wipe cache and Dalvik cache.
  5. Now you can install zip from sd card
  6. Just wait for sometime so that installation can get completed
  7. Reboot now. ( Keep in mind that first reboot after installation might take a while and so you must have patience. Screen may get black)
  8. Reboot again.

We are sure that people with a good technical knowledge won’t face any issues with the above procedure. But if you are a newbie then you should follow the instructions properly to get it done. Here are a few questions that might arise:

FAQ

1) Why we need to custom Kernel?
A. Changing Kernel will let you to overclock the CPU and you can run it at almost double the speed. Keep in mind the this speeds up the system, but drains the battery too fast.
2) Why do I need to unlock the bootloader and how to do it?
A. Hybrom do not have a boot image. When it is installed without unlocking the bootloader, the CWM recovery causes a few issues. This can be resolved only with an unlocked bootloader. The procedure to unlock Sony Ericsson bootloader officially is given earlier by us.
3) Where does we get the custom Kernel?
A. The ClockworkMod already comes with custom Kernel.

Root WT19i Live with Walkman on 4.0.2.A.0.62 latest firmware

Root WT19i Live with Walkman on 0.62Since rooting Sony Ericsson Live Walkman WT19i after 4.0.2.A.0.62 firmware update is reported to create issues with the normal rooting method which we discussed earlier last week. We did a little research to root the phone with the updated Android version 4.0.2.0.62. And we found that at present there is only one working method to root WT19i on 4.0.2.A.0.62 . We scanned through many XDA pages and found this method to do so with latest version. So if you are desperate to have root access on your phone then your are left with two options:
1) Install the new feature rich custom ROM for WT19i based on 4.0.2.A.0.62 firmware which we discussed on our last post. OR
2) Downgrade your 0.62 firmware to 0.58, root it and upgrade again to 0.62 maintaining the root access. This method also installs Clockworkmod without evenunlocking bootloader.
Both of the above are good alternatives and if you chose the second option then here is how you do it.
Extras: Read here how you can Over clock your WT19i Live with Walkman.

Rooting tool & packages:

Download all the packages given below
Now, after you download all the above links, we move forward to the rooting procedure.
Disclaimer: Rooting WT19i 4.0.2.A.62 will help you free the android phone. But this has some risks and you must move ahead, keeping in mind such risks (like bricking the phone and loss of data). We recommend that only if you are ready to get exposed to such risks, root your phone. Kindly do it at your own risk. The information as produced in this site is produced with care, keeping in mind the requirements of the users. But it is important to note that rooting the phone makes the warranty of the phone void.

Rooting procedure:

  1. First thing that you need to do is unzip the firmware that you have downloaded and put in Flashtool firmware.
  2. Now, you can go to Flashtool. Power off your device and after that is done you need to press 3 keys simultaneously: volume downhome and power button. When you do this, the green LED should glow up. Flash the firmware with flashing tool.
  3. Now start the phone and follow setups as you would do with a new phone.
  4. Now, use the Doomlord kit for rooting the device. Rooting may make the phone’s warranty void and this is something you should keep in mind. Before rooting check out the USB debugging and make sure it is checked. You can do this by Settings->Application->Development->check USB debugging. The screen timeout should be set at around 30 minutes.
Now run runme.bat. Your WT19i Live with Walkman is rooted now and super User app should be installed.
  5. Its time to update the firmware again. For this go to Setting >> About >> Software update. Now download the same and also install it. Remember to update only through OTA (Over the Air) method for permanent root. Updating using PC companion will give temporary root and you will lose the root once restarted. So avoid using PC companion.
  6. After you are done with updating you must unzip CWM install and run the second file script :wt19i.install-cmw2.cmd.Check USB debugging and also set the screen time out as 10 minutes.
This will give you newer version root firmware along with Clockworkmod and in the matter of time you are also not required to unlock bootloader.
Congrats! This will help you root Wt19i for .62 and above firmware. For any clarifications or doubts, you can comment below and we will be help you sort out the same.

Root Sony WT19i on ICS Unlocked Bootloader

WT19i Live with Walkman
Rooting is something many people are not still clear of. People think what the need to root an Android Smart Phone is. Now, this is something very much subjective. For layman rooting is something complicated which may void warranties. For developers or techno geeks, rooting is a procedure that helps in getting into the system of the Smart phone and making deliberate changes as desired. For them, void warranties are just a small risk or a small sacrifice.
If you own Sony Live with Walkman WT19i then we are sure you must be having an amazing time with the phone. It is a bit old phone but is loaded with such amazing features that many people do not like to change the phone. Rather they update the phone with relevant software whenever needed. Many owners of WT19i might have rooted the phone. But we know that some exceptions are always there. Thus, this tutorial is for the few who have not yet rooted the phone, but have intentions to do so. Do you wish to root LWW WT19i on ICS 4.0.4? If yes, then here’s a simple tutorial for you to follow. But before that kindly look into the precautions that one should take while rooting the Android device and the disclaimer.
Words of Caution while Rooting
It is recommended that before you actually begin rooting the android, you must charge your phone to the extent of 60-80 percent. If you can make the battery fully charged, then there is nothing better than that. This is specifically mentioned, because many of the rooting procedures on phones take time and also the battery consumption goes up. In that case, the physical hurdle like a battery getting discharged would be pathetic.
It is true that, as a techno geek you would love experimenting. But, if your purpose is getting solved merely with rooting then avoid the temptation to move ahead to other procedures like overclocking etc. Such operations would damage the hardware of the handset, if you make even a small mistake. It is therefore advised that keep away from greed!
Disclaimer: It is true that rooting an Android Smart Phone opens up many avenues for the owner of the phone, but still there are a few risks involved. These include risk of data loss, risk of phone bricking and risk of warranty getting void. Thus, we recommend that if you wish to root Sony Live with Walkman on ICS then do it at your risk.
Notes: This procedure is suitable for WT19i LWW with unlocked bootloaders. Also, this procedure is compatible only for Sony WT19i and no other Android Smart Phone.
We are sharing this method after doing research from XDA. XDA member tracer123 has developed this method and we are thankful to him for this. We have not tested this method personally.
We expect you to have enough technical knowledge before you take up the complicated procedure as given below. We expect that you know what you are doing and have enough idea about the risks and benefits.
