HD Tune is a hard disk utility and a freeware tool for Windows OS, which by means of a set of simple steps checks the status of hard drives (internal, external or extractable). Apart from checking the status, the application is measures the drive’s performance, errors during scanning, health status and much more.
Once the program is started, the diagnostic tool will display the temperature in the taskbar. After carrying out the corresponding tests, the user will be able to view the average transfer speed rate, SMART (Self-Monitoring, Analysis, and Reporting Technology) indicators and possible errors that may appear on the computer screen.
The interface of the application is quite simple and displays data by means of a series of windows that can be accessed via 4 different tabs. The tool also works well with other storage devices such as USB sticks, memory cards, iPods, etc.
How to use HD Tune version 2.55?
Just select the disk you want to test from the drop-down menu and choose the desired tab (Benchmark, Info, Health or Error Scan). The 4 different tabs are capable of carrying out the following functions,
Benchmark tab: The HD Tune benchmark performs a benchmark test for each of the drives installed on your computer. It provides details on transfer rate, access time, CPU usage and burst rate.
Info tab– This tab displays details on the selected drive as well as the S.M.A.R.T. attributes available. One is free to choose which of them should be displayed.
Health tab– It delivers the current state of the selected drive according to the S.M.A.R.T. attributes reading.
Error scan tab– Scans the drive to locate error, if any.
